You're looking for a lightweight backpacking tent for you you and up to two other people. Maybe you're a couple with and a dog or two. There are many great options out there, but none offer the amount of livable space that the NEMO Equipment Losi 3p does. Imagine yourself on the trail - you need a little boost of energy but you don't want to pull out your stove to heat water for coffee or drink a sugary energy drink. How about in the office? That next task is looking mighty intimidating. What do you do? Well that is were Voke Tabs come to play. They are tablets that you chew, much like a chewable vitamin, and they pack a nice little punch to get you over the next hill or through the next project at work.
Engearment is all about embracing new ideas - ideas that shake up our favorite sports in a revolutionary way. That's why were we so excited to sit down with Gilson Snowboards back in January. They're poised to kick-flip snowboarding on its rear end. (We know that's a skateboarding thing. A little slack, please.) Click through for more:
Fitwell has been making top quality mountaineering boots for over 35 years. In 2012, Fitwell’s owner - Giuliano Grotto - was asked by 2 engineers to create a splitboard specific mountaineering boot. After a few years of revisions they come to an epic boot for serious split boarders: the Fitwell Backcountry Splitboard Boot. Click through for our initial impressions.
So you’re looking at getting some sweet Karakoram splitboard bindings, but you’re not sure if you should go with the Split 30s or the newer Prime series. Good situation to be in! Both are built with high quality parts and hand assembled in Washington, so you can feel good about supporting a US company. But, which one should you choose?
While we were at the SIA on snow demo at Copper Mountain, G3 handed us their 2016 Scapegoat Carbon Splitboard and sent us off to have fun. So, we did. We toured it at Jones Pass. We rode it at Vail. We used and abused (don't tell G3!) it and put it through the wringer. Click through to see how the Scapegoat performed.
Part three of our SIA Snow Show 2015 bonanza! Today we’re talking about snowboards and splitboards. SIA Snow Show 2015 snowboards and splitboards! We had a chance to meet with several great companies at SIA 2015 and even test out a handful on snow at Copper Mountain. Again, this post will be photo-intensive. Please browse accordingly!
We took the Lib Tech Wingman splitboard out on a recent hut trip in the 10th Mountain Division’s Fowler-Hilliard Hut. Our route started in Red Cliff, Colorado, at 8,750’ ASL and rose to 11,500’ at the hut. With the odd winter we’ve had, the Wingman experienced widely variable conditions both on the way up and on short day tours around the hut. Verdict? Woo-freakin’-hoo! The most fun we have had on a splitboard yet!
Jeremy Jones is a prolific backcountry splitboarder who has inspired us to get deeper, further, and higher into the mountains. He also manufactures his own snowboarding and splitboarding gear under the eponymous Jones Snowboards. We picked up a set of the Jones Snowboards Mohair Skins to try out and compare against some of the nylon and blend models we already have in the quiver.
