The Exped Venus III tent is made for all four seasons – from the hottest summer days to the coldest and snowiest winter camping. Easy to set up with just 3 poles that all slide into place without having you get inside the tent (like many other 4 season tents) and keeps the tent completely dry. Room for three adults and so easy to set up, a child could (and did) do it. Read on to see why this is one tent to rule them all.

Let’s start with the set up. The tent’s fly is attached to the inner body via several clips – creating a suspended canopy tent within the tent. They call it an exoskeleton, we call it super easy to set up. This allows water vapor (condensation) to evaporate without ever effecting the occupants of the tent. This also makes set up a lot faster, dyer and easier! You take the two main poles and slide them into sleeves that are affixed to the tent’s fly, then you insert the cross pole into its sleeve and magic – the tent is ready to be staked out. So easy a kid can do it (and has several times).

Exped Venus III 3 tent review

There are two sizable vents at the top of each door that can be erected using the burly support beams. Exped thought a lot of things out with this tent. Like having four generous mesh dump pockets as well as smaller mesh pockets and even an attic to dry your socks and gloves. Both doors can be opened even in the snow and rain thanks to the overhanging brow pole. So, you can sit out the storm and watch it from the inside of the tent (which we have done many times). This also creates massive storage space. The vestibules are 28 sq. ft. total.

The inside of the tent is very roomy and can easily fit 2 large adults and dogs. The height is well over 50” and makes it easy to change clothes and hang out in the tent. Width is 60” and length of 92” made for plenty of room for our 6’1” tester. The tent did take up a larger footprint that some other tents we have tested, but the small trade off was well worth it.

This tent is relatively light weight for a four-season, three-person tent at 9lb with everything included. They include LOTS of extras too. The stuff sack has organized and labeled sleeves for the poles, stakes (lots of extra stakes) repair kit, line bags and line locks.

This tent has seen lots of use in the summer all the way through winter. It has no problem venting, thanks to the double layer doors that have mesh and fabric as well as very effective vents. The amount of details are truly amazing with the Exped Venus III. If you are looking for one tent for all seasons, then this should be at the top of your list.
