BONX is a Bluetooth earpiece that creates a group-talk network with nearby users. If you’ve had enough of yelling down river to your fishing buddy (and scaring all the fish) or trying to chat with your riding partner when he’s drafting, BONX may be your solution.
It seems like a great system. All you do it leave it on and it sits on standby mode – to save battery – until you say something. BONX then picks up your voice and transmits it to all of the people in your network. Since it works over a cellular data system, there’s no range limit. If you have data anywhere in the world, you can talk to your BONX group. You just have to keep the earpiece within about 30 feet – Bluetooth range – of your cell phone.
We can see this being useful on the river, trail, or road. BONX might even give your team an unfair advantage on the paintball field. Also works for taking phone calls or listening to music. The earpiece will be available in four colors and connects to a free app for both iOS and Android.
BONX started shipping to its original crowd-funding supporters in Japan in December of 2015. They’re now launching in the USA on Indiegogo as of July 19. At press time, they’d already reached 25% of their funding goal in the first day of funding. We’re hoping to get some testers in house next month to try out. Until then, head over to the Indiegogo page to find out more.
