Leatherman announced this week that it will be introducing the first multitool that can be worn on your wrist.
The idea for a multitool bracelet came to Leatherman President Ben Rivera when he was stopped at the gate of Disneyland and asked to remove his Leatherman Skeletool (one of our favorite pieces of gear). He began thinking about how he could carry tools without having to give them up at security checkpoints. The result?
“The Leatherman Tread is crafted of high strength, corrosion resistant 17-4 stainless steel links that include two to three functional tools each, making a total of 25 usable features like box wrenches and screwdrivers available at a moment’s notice.” The links are connected by small bolts that are user serviceable, so the wearer can add or swap tool links or adjust the size of the bracelet.
Even the clasp is functional – it has a bottle opener and a #2 square drive.
No official word on cost yet, but we’re expecting the price to be around $150 for the stainless bracelet, $200 for the black “Carbon” finish, and $500 for the watch version. The product is still a few months out. We can’t wait to get our hands on one!
