Hey families – it’s almost Father’s Day. Forget the tie. Dad wants new gear! Being the resident father at Engearment, I humbly submit myself as the only gearhead here qualified to guide you through the coolest gear gifts for outdoorsy dads. If dad spends any time outdoors, he’s sure to appreciate any or all (depending on how much you love him!) of our suggestions, below…
Patagonia Storm Racer
Rain shells are going ultralight with sub-6 ounce jackets being par for the course. There are plenty of choices out there, but few nail the weight and come with stretch. Patagonia’s Storm Racer jacket will keep dad dry on the trails, but won’t weigh his pack down on sunny days. We have one in-house for review. So far, it truly lives up to the hype!
Hydro Flask Brew Bundle
Hydro Flask makes top-notch, stainless, insulated containers for drinky things. Recently, they introduced their newest additions – tumblers and the True Pint (our favorite). Get dad the best of the collection with the Brew Bundle – a 64 oz. growler and three True Pint glasses. All of them are stainless, each is coated with Hydro Flask’s textured, powder coat finish, and they’re all insulated to keep things cold.
Patagonia Provisions Gift Boxes
Keep dad well fed on the trail or in the yard with a Patagonia Provisions gift box. The Prairie gift box is a great choice and comes with two packs of bison jerky and an Opinel No. 8 pocket knife, but Dad’ll like any of them. (Hey, Patagonia..they’re bison, not buffalo!)
Leatherman Juice CS3
Even if dad has to travel for work, he can keep a Leatherman in his pocket. Available just in time for Father’s Day, the Leatherman Juice CS3 comes with a corkscrew, can/bottle opener, and scissors and is TSA compliant. Now dad doesn’t have to pay to check a bag to bring his Leatherman along.
Toad x Grand Trunk Hammock
Give dad a moment to relax in the sun before he’s back on duty. He’ll appreciate being able to take that moment in a hammock by Toad and Co. in collaboration with Grand Trunk. Just make sure you’re watching him out in the yard so you can jump on him the minute his eyes close.
Bureo Ahi Skateboard
Does dad shred or does he cruise? Either way, Bureo’s new Ahi skateboard is shaped in collaboration with Carver Skateboards to help him roll in style. The deck is made from recycled fishing nets and manufactured in California. He gets ABEC7 bearings, 5″, reverse pinned Carver trucks, and 65mm 81a wheels along with a locking hole to make sure it stays put when he heads down the street to get you some ice cream.
Jungmaven 100% Hemp T
Some things are meant to last a loooong time. If dad tends to burn through t-shirts easily, get him one of Jungmaven’s hemp t-shirts. They break in like jeans and hemp is naturally antimicrobial, moisture wicking, fast drying and breathable.
Howler Brothers H Bar B Tech Shirt
If dad’s the backcountry cowboy type, Howler Brothers has the perfect shirt – the H Bar B Tech. It hides technical fabric and strategic venting under a western veneer. I use it for everyday wear and then toss it on as a mountain bike jersey for a second use before it heads to the wash. There’s a secret pocket on the side seam and a sunglasses-cleaning cloth sewn into the hem. Available in plaid or stripes.
SAXX Vibe Father’s Day 2-pack
Dad will absolutely love getting some new skivvies. SAXX’s Vibe underwear will, in our opinion, change his entire world. Featuring their Ballpark Pouch for his bits, SAXX keeps everything separated and in place. Normally $32 each, the 2-pack comes with two (duh) pairs of Vibes for $57. These might make you dad’s favorite. Shoot, did I say $57? How about some colors and sizes on sale for $34?
Toes on the Nose Growler Crew
Toes on the Nose just popped up on our radar. Their proprietary SeaSilk fabric is a blend of polyester, rayon, and spandex knitted into a light weight french terry. That means it blocks UV, regulates moisture, dries quickly, and is anti-microbial. Dad can use it as a base layer for a trail run in the morning and then look solid at brunch.
