Kulkea Kantaja Double Roller Ski Bag – Freakin Awesome 2 Person Ski Bag
If you are looking for the best ski bag for traveling, and want to the ability to carry 2 skis or snowboards – this is it. With its bomber 1680D materials and quilted protection, this bag will keep you rolling.
I have tested several ski and snowboard bags over the year here at Engearment, and this one has got to be one of the best. There is a lot of thoughtful features that make this one stand out, ahead of the rest. From the oversized (and replaceable) off-road wheels to the gigantic opening, this bag is overengineered. The fact that you can carry 2 sets of skis and poles is a major bonus.
Extendable ski bag?
Yep. The Kataja can adapt from 195cm to 205 cm with a simple zipper. Nice for those long skis. Now, many of you know that I am not a skier. So what am I doing reviewing a ski bag? I am an avid splitboarder, so sometimes I have 2 skis, and sometimes I have a snowboard LOL. Regardless, I am able to easily fit (2) 165cm splitboards in the Kataja ski bag with ease.
There are 4 stretch pockets on each corner of the ski bag. This is great for storing jackets, skins, gloves, etc. It is a great feature and one that I use often. It is nice to have everything in one bag! I don’t see why you could not use this bag for 2 sets of skis or snowboards, boots, layers and jackets. Very efficient planning involved in this bag.
Durable and protective
The Kataja is made of some really burly 1680D ballistic Poly with a PVC free tarpaulin coating. Meaning, it can take a beating. The quilted padding throughout the bag does a great job of protecting the skis while in transit. The zippers are larger than most and smooth to operate. Even the grip handles are padded and oversized. Making it easy to handle with gloves on. Through in a 2-year warranty and you have a legit ski bag here!
What is not to like about this bag?
This is a stumper. There is nothing I can think negatively about this bag. It is well made. Carries my splitboards and gear well. Wheels around easily. It has great handles and zippers. You can strap a boot bag to it (read our review on the Kulkea Thermal Trekker!) and it can extend for really long skis. The price is $219. But you basically get 2 ski bags in one. So think about that. Premium coverage for your premium skis (or snowboards!).
