Norrona makes some durable and long lasting clothing. The Lofoten Gore-Tex Primaloft Jacket is a waterproof insulated jacket designed to be a do it all jacket for cold weather activities like skiing, snowboarding, sledding, shoveling the driveway and walking the dog. With Goretex membrane, you don’t have to worry about getting wet. With 100 grams of Primaloft Silver, you have great insulation that does not lose performance when it gets wet. Plus both the Goretex and Primaloft are easy to maintain and durable. Norrona offers a 5-year warranty on the jacket, pretty impressive!
This is the jacket for winter activities, especially if you run cold. There are no pit zips on the Lofoten, which we found odd. Other than that gripe, the jacket exceeds all our expectations on what an insulated waterproof jacket should have. here are 2 sizable and zippered hand pockets, 2 large chest pockets, one even has an attached goggle wipe. There are one internal pocket and one sleeve pocket (with a sleeve within it for your chapstick). The powder skirt is removable and the hood is large and easy to adjust. There are even wrist gaiters.
I used this jacket as his go to jacket for cold mornings and snow storms. Living in Colorado, there were ample opportunities to test the jacket out in blizzards! I am 6’1” 45” chest 33” waist and wear an XL in the Lofoten. If you are looking for a very well built winter jacket that can handle anything nature has to offer, then the Norrona Lofoten Gore-Tex Primaloft jacket should be your list. The price is also a premium at MSRP $550, but it is a really premium product. It’s a Backcountry.com exclusive, so get it from them on sale!
