Dave’s obsession (should we call it that?  Yes, we should.) with gear began early with a stint at summer camp.  Long trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness and Canada’s Quetico came with packing lists and packing lists got him thinking: the list says backpack, but which one?

Since then, he’s led trips back to the BWCA and Quetico and into Utah’s Escalante and Grand Staircase National Monument and guided mountain bike tours through the mountains around Colorado Springs.  While acting as head guide, he was also chief bike mechanic for the rental fleet.  He’s AIARE Level 1 certified and has completed two Ironman triathlons.

Dave has used his gear all over the world.  He’s skied the Swiss Alps, hiked the Great Wall, explored ancient cave strongholds in Turkey, and watched the sun set over Mt. Fuji.
