The new Insulated Air Core Ultra sleeping pad is really awesome. I have used plenty of Big Agnes sleeping pads over the last several years and can immediately see and feel the improvements.   Starting with a new ripstop material that is 25% more durable than previous versions. This is evident when you feel the sleeping pad.  It feels more robust and burly.

Materials

WRM HL high loft synthetic insulation is used to insulated this sleeping pad.  In conjunction with a heat reflective technology to retain warm.  Some heat-reflective tech can have a “crinkly” sound.  Not so with the Insulated Air Core Ultra. Thank goodness!  I have spent many nights on older sleeping pads that sounded like a bag of chips LOL.

Ease of Use

One of the things that I most enjoyed about this pad, is the efficiency of inflation. The one-way inflation valve seems easier than others to get air in and keep it in.  When done using the pad, open the deflation valve and the pad is deflated in just a few seconds.  The pad packs up smaller than previous versions of Big Agnes pads.

Review of Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Ultra

Big Agnes sent us the double-wide version of this sleeping pad to test.  At 50″ wide and 78″ long, it was perfect for my wife, two dogs and me.  The temps we used this in were around 30 degrees at night.  The pad was plenty warm (rated to 15 degrees!).

I would not hesitate to recommend the Big Agnes Insulated Air Core Ultra to anyone, of any size, for backpacking and 3 season camping. The build quality is absolutely fantastic.  The pad rolls up small.  It is dog resistant.  The pad just works.  It is available in all sorts of sizes, so there is one that will fit your needs.
