Title Nine Holy Grail Running Shorts – Comfort and Performance in One Pair of Shorts!

Versatile and comfortable. These are the two words that come to mind when I think of the Title Nine Holy Grail Running Shorts. Whether you’re out for a quick jog, a long hike, or a full weekend of adventures in the mountains, these shorts have you covered. Featuring a thin Nimblene™ (86% poly/14% spandex) outer and built-in spandex, comfort is the name of the game here.

I am completely in love with these shorts and haven’t worn a different pair of running shorts since I got these in the mail (I wash them!). I have had some long days in the mountains in these and can assure you they live up to their Holy Grail name. They have plenty of movement to accommodate scrambling and down climbing. I have never felt restricted by these shorts and totally trust their fit.

The biggest problem I have had with other shorts is that they ride up. Since my waist is smaller than my hips (as everybody’s is) the waistband ends up at my belly button. I just wanted a pair of shorts that stayed where they belong. And the built-in spandex help with exactly this. They don’t ride up, fall down, or move around in general.

This spandex also has a small envelope pocket on the right leg that can hold a credit card and key… but that’s about it. And that is my biggest critique of these shorts. I want a pair of shorts that have a pocket for my phone. Most people want to take pictures, use their phone for navigation, etc. and it would be so convenient if this little spandex pocket was a little bigger. The spandex also eliminates chafing. Although I have never had a problem with this, they are still appreciated since they keep the shorts secure. And a little added bonus feature is the silicone grips on the inside of the leg openings on the spandex. These keep them from sliding all the way up.

I really like how they look and fit, too. Look good, feel good, do good, right? They are mid-rise with an elastic waistband and a loose but not baggy fit. The mid-length inseam doesn’t make you feel like you’re wearing basketball shorts but also not exposed like some short shorts. Personally, this is the perfect length for me, I have pretty long legs and short shorts just aren’t my style.
I’d also like to add how durable these shorts are. I did a couple of days of down climbing aka scooting downhill over sharp rocks on my butt. I expected them to rip and accepted that it would be my fault and would be no reflection on the fabric. But, nope! No rips, they currently show minimal wear.

I’ve also been for a post-run, alpine lake swim in these and was pretty pleased with how they dried, especially the outer fabric. My butt stayed kind of wet for a bit due to the spandex but overall I’d say they dry fast enough.
They fit true to size. I am usually a small and between a 2 and a 4. A small fits me perfectly.
Bottom Line: Truly the Holy Grail of running shorts. Title Nine provides reliable clothing and these shorts are no exception. These are $59 well spent. I just may need another pair…
