Jack Wolfskin JWP Hybrid Jacket – Comfortable and Warm for Winter

The Jack Wolfskin JWP Hybrid Jacket is a really nice midweight down jacket for stop-and-go activities. I used it for splitboarding in single-degree temps, playing with our dogs in the snow, and training people at our gym in the outside.

Again, Jack Wolfkin impressed me with this jacket.  I had just reviewed the Jack Wolfskin North Climate jacket (review here) and appreciated the features for the value of that jacket.  Then, I took this JWP Hybrid Jacket out for testing and appreciated its comfort and warmth.

This jacket was at home in temps around 20-35F when not active.  When active, I was using this jacket in 5-15F temps.  It came in handy on some splitboarding tours as well.  I don’t usually tour in down, but the active insulation in the underarms and sleeves allowed me to use this jacket in active situations.

Fit and Function

For reference, I am 6’1″ 205lb 45″ chest 33″ waist, and 36/37 on the arms.  The XL was a perfect fit for me.  I love the stretch of this jacket! It did not feel restrictive or binding while I was doing some very active movements.  Heck, I even used it to train in the snow at our gym!

Who is this for?

This is a great active insulation jacket for anyone that likes to fat bike, ski, snowboard, hike, snowshoe, or play in the snow.  It would also make a great mid-layer for colder ski days.  The price is very fair.  MSRP is $199 but it is on sale for $119 at the time of this review.  For that price, it is a no-brainer! it easily stacks up to other jackets that cost twice as much.  That is a bold statement, but I feel that it is true.  If you don’t need the lightest weight or the name-brand material, you can save money and get geared up for a lot less.  Pretty sweet!
