HIMALI Altocumulus 2.0 – Impressively Warm and Packable

I was just getting ready to write a review on a great budget-friendly puffy jacket that I’ve been rocking lately when low and behold they drop the new version! – HIMALI Altocumulus 2.0 I’ve been really stoked on HIMALI as a company and am currently testing their full line of jackets, and I’m very pleased.

HIMALI Altocumulus 2.0 improvement

The Altocumulus Down Jacket 2.0 has gone from 800 fill down to 850 fill RDS® certified down. They have also upgraded the shell fabric to Pertex Quantum®. It also utilizes RDS® HyperDRY down coating and Eco-DWR making it water-resistant. This is an excellent technical piece at a great value, especially if you are lucky enough to get in on the Kickstarter.

This puffy is Rad! Guiding in Colorado you never know what the weather may bring and I never leave this piece behind. It’s lightweight, it compresses in its own sewn-in stuff sack, and doesn’t take up much room. The puffy has an athletic fit and has two front pockets and one internal pocket.

When examining this piece you can see that it is well thought out and well made. Its been very durable so far in testing and cleans easily. A few days ago while climbing it started to rain, I went to reach for my hardshell then decided to see how the Altocumulus would hold up.

It rained for around 15 mins with medium intensity and it had not started to wet out yet! Talk about stoked! I haven’t had the 2.0 in the extreme cold yet but having the original in the cold I know this piece will excel. HIMALI has really put out an outstanding jacket and it’s getting me even more stoked for winter!

Here’s a quick little background story of what the founders of HIMALI are doing for the Nepalese community. HIMALI stands to take action for schools and safe water in Nepal. 5% of net proceeds are invested into the Himalayan region, particularly by supporting schools and also by fueling initiatives that provide clean water. In addition, HIMALI donates equipment and clothing to less fortunate guiding students in Nepal as well as to remote impoverished Nepali villages.
