Avid4 Adventure Creates Next Generation of Outdoor Enthusiasts
Standing out amongst the competition with its unique approach to risk assessment, learning progression, and confidence building, Avid4 Adventure has helped nurture an extraordinary number of future outdoorists in just 14 years since its inception. And now, many of those young leaders are coming back as guides and program leaders.
Avid4 was born from a passion to instill in kids a love of outdoor activities — and in so doing, to ensure the future of our planet. The founders of Avid4 Adventure, coming from a background in the outdoor industry and adventure sports, recognized the declining rates of youth participation in sports, coupled with crippling cuts to physical education program budgets in schools and ever-increasing hours of screen time amongst kids. They saw a need not just to get kids outside, but to set them on a lifelong trajectory of outdoor adventure and stewardship.

Avid4 Adventure camps give kids not only a place to start but all the room to grow, as participants build skills in a wide range of adventure sports, from mountain biking to hiking, kayaking to rock climbing. And this runs the gamut of age groups, from encouraging a 3-year-old find balance on a Strider bike to teaching a 12-year-old to navigate singletrack; Avid4 camps build the determination, confidence, and grit necessary to thrive not only in the outdoors, but in daily life.

Avid4 Adventure camp opportunities include day camps, resident camps, and expedition camps, with programs for kids from pre-K to 12th grade. Registration for all 2019 camps is open.

Avid4 Adventure hosts day camps in Colorado, California’s Bay Area and, starting in Spring 2019, in Portland, OR. These camps are each a week long and kids (obviously) go home at the end of the day.
The Resident camps give kids the opportunity to stay overnight in cabins. All
experience levels—from total first-timers to seasoned experts—are welcome and kids depart each day for activities where they will bike trails, paddle lakes, climb crags and strike out on overnight backpacking trips. First to sixth-grade campers are hosted atMt Evans in Evergreen, CO, where four-day, one-week and two-week options are available. Seventh through eleventh graders camp at Windy Peak near Bailey, CO, where campers will stay for two weeks.

Expedition campers sleep in tents every night and adventure every day, choosing to focus on mountain biking, rock climbing, a multi-sport experience or a pure backpacking journey. In addition to exploring their spectacular surroundings and logging lots of practice in their sport of choice, they learn lasting skills in everything from gear management and cooking outdoors to problem solving and teamwork. Different experiences are available for different age groups and camps are hosted in Colorado and Wyoming.
