Mystery Ranch Robo Flip Backpack – An Every day Carry pack
Basic looking backpack with tons of use
At first glance, the ROBO FLIP looks like a classic backpack (remind you of the Kletter?) Sometimes minimal is better. That is true with the ROBO FLIP. It is a 21L backpack with one main pocket, one zippered top pocket, and some daisy chains. Inside the main compartment is a sleeve for 15″ laptop, velcro closing file pocket and a sleeve to hold a water bottle. Simple.
It is more than simple, it is attractive and functional
I appreciate the understated look of the ROBO FLIP. There are not a lot of pockets or even an external water bottle sleeve. Instead, the backpack gives the user a reliable, durable, functional and even stylish offering. I was provided this backpack to review a few weeks before the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market 2018 show in Denver. It easily swallowed up my MacBook Pro 15″, camera and lenses, client files, battery chargers, snacks, 40oz water bottle and a gimbal. I was impressed.
Mystery Ranch knows how to make a backpack. They are damn good at it in fact. They make backpacks for military, fire, and hunters – these men and women will not put up with a backpack that does not work. Their lives depend on it. How that trickles over in the civilian (Mountain line) world is wonderful for us hikers, backpackers, and commuters. This means that this basic, everyday backpack is made with durable materials (840D TPU coated nylon and 1000D lower body). The zippers are burly and smooth as anything I have ever used. No tiny zippers here!
Looks great too
I have never been stopped so often and asked what backpack I am using. That is saying quite a bit as we test a lot of backpacks over here. From people on the street, at the office and even the gym – lots of people wanted to get this backpack. For the MSRP of $99 I think it is a great deal.
