Tread Labs Pace Insoles – Comfortable Feet For the Win

Wil Rickards

How do you write about insoles? Are they sexy? No. Do they have an aesthetic value? No. Can you even see if someone is using them? No. I must confess to having got myself worked up in knots about getting this review out. Stop. Breathe Wil. You’ve got this.

Have you noticed, there are two kinds of skiers. Some are happy to pay big money now required to indulge in this great activity. And those “affectionately” known by ski resort management as “brown baggers.” I fall into the latter category.

Why pay $15 for some fries when you can bring your lunch in a; you guessed it, brown paper bag? Likewise, I know I would benefit from having a good boot fitter work on my ski boots, but my miserly self struggles to do that. They consequently never quite fit right, and by the end of the day, I am glad to take them off.

Tread Labs Pace Insoles Review

So a few months ago, Tread Labs sent me an Insole Kit to try. I decided to see if they would make any difference if placed in my ski boots. Did they work? Let’s take it back and start at the beginning. There are three choices: The Ramble that “revive your tired feet” and “add optimal comfort to every step.”

The Pace “made to combat plantar fasciitis and other foot conditions.” And the Dash, which is “best for performance athletes, people who overpower other insoles.” I went with the Pace. Each kit contains a pair of molded arch supports and three sets of top covers.

The two parts velcro together. This way, you can wash or replace the top covers. Two of the top covers are full length (different thicknesses), and one is shorter. This modular system is novel and enables a dialed-in fit.

That’s all well and good; the question is still, do they work?

That is a resounding yes. I used the TreadLabs Pace in my ski boots which had a pair of other off-the-shelf insoles in them. I do not know how, but the Tread Labs lifted my foot in a way that my medial malleolus (read ugly ankle bone spur) does not feel so uncomfortable, and I can now spend more time in my boots. I have not thought as much about my feet/boots while out.

So yes, I love them; my real issue is, can I write an engaging review about insoles? If you have read this far, I feel I may have done ok, and I encourage you to check out TreadLabs’ website; they have some great resources.

If your feet hurt, the bottom line is to give TreadLabs a go; decent arch support may be what you need.
