Mud Season Favorites

As we transition from winter to spring, some days are 50 degrees and sunny, while a few days later, we get pounded with spring snow. What to wear during mud season?

Here are some of our favorite late winter/early spring pieces:

Free Country Adirondack Shirt (MSRP $90)

Free Country Adirondack Shirt ($90) is the shirt jacket you’ll want to steal from your boyfriend or buy for yourself. Perfect to wear on the slopes when an outer jacket is too warm, and afterward for apres drinks at a patio bar. The Adirondack is a shirt jacket with ridiculously soft and warm fleece lining. Unlike similar shirt jackets, the lining doesn’t add bulk and or detract from its appearance.

Marmot Bronco hooded vest (MSRP $150)

Marmot Bronco Hooded Vest ($150). Perfect for trail and town, the vest keeps your core insulated and your head covered from the elements with water-resistant 600 fill power down. A long torso covers your midsection and zippered pockets keep your hands warm and keys and chapstick handy.

Marmot Bronco hooded vest (MSRP $150) and Kodiak Shari Arctic Grip boots (MSRP $180).

Sometimes we like to take a break from wearing tech gear. The retro-styled Kodiak Shari Arctic Grip Boots ($180) has been our go-to boot all season long. From the first time we saw them at last year’s Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, we knew we had to get them. In addition to being super comfy, key features include the Vibram Arctic Grip outsoles that provide traction on icy sidewalks and the waterproof SaltShield full grain leather construction that keeps feet warm and prevents hideous salt stains.

The Vibram Furoshiki Oslo wrap boots ($160) are like super comfy customized fleece blankets for your feet, or as a friend called them, “technical Uggs.” Constructed from a waterproof fabric that wraps closely for a snug fit and easy removal, the boots feature Vibram’s Arctic Grip technology that provides grippy traction on slippery surfaces. We love these boots for hut trips and or to wear in long car rides up to the mountains to ski.
