RAB Kinetic Jacket – Great Ski Touring Jacket
The RAB Kinetic Jacket is an excellent jacket for ski touring, climbing, hiking, and more.
Proflex Fabric Stretches
The Proflex fabric technology Rab is using is incredible. A high performance, flexible membrane with a waterproof measure of 10,000mm and an exceptional breathability level in excess of 35,000cc/sqm/24hrs.
How the Rab Kinetic Jacket was tested
I used the Kinetic in a variety of conditions from heavy winter storms to bluebird days ranging from the high Rockies of Colorado to the eastern Sierra in California. Ski touring and ice climbing were the main activities.
The Kinetic is great at blocking the elements while maintaining a full range of motion. The Proflex fabric is very breathable and has really turned me on to using soft shells more often.
Lightweight and Packable
The Kinetic weighs a mere 11 oz and packs easily into the included stuff sack. The fit of this jacket is pretty slim and I recommend upsizing one size when purchasing. The hood fits over climbing or skiing helmets with ease. The pockets are placed high enough that I can still access them with my hip belt connected.
Overall I’m very thrilled with the performance of this jacket and will be using it primarily for ski touring. Available from REI and Backountry.com for $230.
