Ah, schussing. Is there any better feeling? No, we didn't make up that word. It's German or something. Point is, this is the perfect time - gear-wise - to upgrade or fill out your quiver. The latest skis and boards just dropped. Binding tech is better than ever. Even ski poles are in a renaissance. If you haven't looked at new plank(s) in a while, now's the time!

Giro Range MIPS Helmet/Contact Gerry Lopez Goggle

Giro's Range MIPS helmet uses their Conform Fit tech to expand and contract the body of the helmet.  Instead of adjusting a band around your head, the helmet itself moves to your head, which we think offers better protection.  Add in MIPS, integrated POV camera mount, and Fidlock magnetic buckle and you have a top helmet.  The Contact goggle incorporates Zeiss lenses with Giro's  Snapshot magnetic lens retention for quick swaps as conditions change.  This year, the legendary Gerry Lopez added his signature surf style to the line.

Limited Range MIPS colors and sizes available for 40% off at evo.  Full price at Backcountry.com.  Grab the Lopez Signature Contact goggles at Backcountry.

Grass Sticks Bamboo Ski Poles

Grass Sticks aren't the only bamboo ski poles available, but the combination of grip design and interchangeable baskets make them our favorite.  They also happen to offer a bargain comparatively speaking.  Each set is hand-made to order in Steamboat, Colorado, based on your color and style selections.  The bamboo is hand-sanded and finished with a clear coat that keeps them protected.  Rather than ski poles made from materials mined from the earth, ski something the earth grew.

Order direct from Grass Sticks and your fully custom poles will arrive in about a week.

686 Ether Down Jacket

686 has been cranking out quality snowboard jackets for years but this one really impressed us. It is a waterproof/breathable shell (thanks to the InfiniDry tech) with 600 fill down insulation mapped out to keep you warm where you need it. The Vader vent chin guard is a nice touch - allowing you to zip the jacket up fully and breath wet though the vents.  MSRP $300

Arc'teryx Voltair Airbag Pack

Arc'teryx jumps into the backcountry ski game this year with both feet.  Their electric airbag pack, the Voltair, comes in two sizes, 20L and 30L.  It features extreme weather resistence with seam taping and waterproof zippers.  The airbag deploys multiple times on a single charge and repacks tightly into the top of the pack.  Our favorite detail, though, is that the rated volume of the pack is what you actually get inside - no 40L label with the airbag taking up half the usable space.
