Athletic Greens is not just a green drink.  It aims to be your one-stop supplement for vitamins, probiotics, antioxidants and more.

Athletic Greens - More than just a green drink 2

Being a fitness coach, I test a lot of supplements and food products.  I don’t usually recommend supplements as I feel it is best (and ideal) to get vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and enzymes from food.  That being said, I do recommend a multivitamin for a lot of people, as their eating habits might lack sufficient vitamins.  I am also a fan of digestive enzymes and antioxidants.  So when the new Athletic Greens showed up in the mail, I was intrigued.

If it is good enough for Tim Ferriss…

I am sure you have heard of Tim Ferriss (if not, check him out, he interviews some really amazing people).  For years I have heard him mention Athletic Greens.  He says “if I could only take one supplement, it would be Athletic Greens“.

That is a bold statement coming from a very intelligent man, known for taking lots of supplements in his quest to “hack” the body and mind.

What is in Athletic Greens?

Athletic Greens

As you can see, Athletic Greens is comprised of many ingredients.  It provides vitamins and minerals in good doses.  There is an impressive collection of alkaline superfoods and antioxidants. Rounding it out with dairy-free probiotics is very nice.

What does all that mean?

The list of ingredients above is impressive, but that does not always translate to real-world benefits.  I often see supplements full of ingredients to look like they are hip and including everything you have heard about on TV.  Often, they fall short on proper dosage or quality.

Not so with Atheltic Greens.  The ingredients are legit and of high quality.  The doses might seem a little low in some areas (like the pea protein isolate – usually a dose would be in grams) and Reishi (I take a much higher dose, usually).  But somehow the product seems to work.  And work well I might say!

How do you use Athletic Greens?

The powder comes in either a 30 serving package or individually packaged.  I appreciate that you have to refrigerate the package if you open it. I also appreciate the individual packets for when I am traveling. It is recommended that you take the drink first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach.

How did we test Athletic Greens?

I was provided samples of both 30-day packet and 30-days of individual packets.  This came in handy as I am often not home to take this supplement first thing in the morning. In this case, I was often in the mountains camping and shooting videos for an online fitness course I put together (Mountain Fitness Training Online Course)

The single-use packets came in handy when I would wake up in the mountains.  I would just pour the powder into a camp mug with some water and drink it for breakfast.

I will note that prior to this review, I was intermittent fasting and not eating any breakfast.  I also stopped taking all my other routine supplements (multivitamins, probiotics, green mixes, etc.) so that I could be as accurate as possible with this review.   That is not easy to give up a routine like that.  But that is the level of dedication I have for you readers out there!

Does Athletic Greens work?

The first dose I took of Athletic Greens, I could feel it.  That is rare.  I think the alkaline blend and dairy free probiotics kicked in fast for me.  I felt like it cleaned me out!  In a good way, for sure.  I was kind of weirded out not taking my usual stack of supplements, but I actually liked how I felt on Athletic Greens.  I also liked that I was not having to take several supplements to get the effects of this one. That meant no more multivitamin, antioxidant, greens drink, probiotic, reishi mushroom, b complex, and zinc.

So it saves time on taking supplements but it also saves that money too. At $97 for your “trial pack” or $77 a month for subscription– it may seem expensive.  But when you factor in not having to take those other supplements, AND the high quality of the product, I think it is a worthy investment.  I certainly felt great while I tested it for a month.

You may have noticed that the packaging of this Athletic Greens looks different from the packaging you may have seen.  Athletic Greens has updated the look and name (but keeping all the ingredients and quality the same!) It will now be called “Athletic Greens Ultimate Daily” I think that is a very fitting name considering what all it does.  I would recommend this to anyone looking to take care of themselves and replace several supplements with just one.
