Someone once stopped me on trail to comment that my La Sportiva Nepal boots were “The King of Mountaineering Boots” and I could not agree more! I. LOVE. These. Boots.

While I will occasionally wear these on a training hike to keep my legs/feet used to the feel, I almost exclusively wear these boots in the high alpine, in tough conditions. La Sportiva Nepal boots are durable, comfortable, and give me a confidence that is unmatched on the mountains.

I bruised my right kneecap pretty significantly on my ascent of Culebra Peak and if it wasn’t for these boots I would not have reached the summit that day. The extra grip, support and balance they provided got me the extra 1/2 mile to the summit and back to the car with essentially one leg!

I’ve heard complaints differing opinions on the water resistance and warmth, but personally I had quality experience in with both. I have gotten rain/snowed on. Crossed rivers and streams and never once had an issue staying warm or dry in my Nepals.

I will be testing other mountaineering boots this winter so I will update this review as necessary, but for now I couldn’t imagine a boot I prefernto these. If I had one complaints, it’d be weight.. but one must make a compromise somewhere.

Originally from Texas, I had absolutely no interest in the outdoors; it’s hot, outdoor gear is expensive, and over a decade of football gave me an aversion to that heat. Fast forward to 2020, I was new to Colorado and the pandemic hit. My business took quite a turn and I needed an outlet.

I started hiking, which led to kayaking, 14ers, camping, backcountry skiing, foraging, and fishing, and my love for the outdoors was in full bloom.
My most recent goals are to finish all of Colorado’s 14ers (while living vanlife, snowboard a 14er, and start eating meat/food that I’ve personally procured.
My long-term goal is to leave a digital footprint encouraging all people, but particularly BIPOC & underserved communities, to find, embrace, and even chase the adventure in their lives.
