The Outdoor Products Silverwood Duffel Backpack $40 is a simple travel duffel with backpack straps ideal for weekend trips and plane flights, at a bargain price.
Outdoor Products Silverwood Duffel Backpack review
This is an ideal weekend bag, and a total bargain at 40 bucks. The hybrid duffel/backpack design gets a lot of versatility out of a simple shape. With backpack straps in addition to classic handles atop the bag, this bag is always easy to grab and carry; you can pull it out of a jumble of luggage in the back of a car, swing it onto your back, and walk to wherever you need to go.

Outdoor Products Silverwood Duffel Backpack is an ideal carry-on bag. It fits in the overhead bins on small planes and has external zippered and mesh pockets so you can keep water bottles, headphones, etc handy
The shoulder straps are slim, yet comfortable and lightly padded, and even have a sternum strap. Walking a few miles with this pack would be fine. With 32 liters capacity it’s a great size for getting away for a few days, and while the structure is overall simplicity – just a large compartment with a zipper running down the middle – a few nice features add some user-friendly organization.

Two zippered pockets on either side keep small items organized; these are great for chargers, headphones, a snack, etc. The challenge often with duffel bags is the need for a ‘ditty bag’ or stuff sack to keep small items from getting jumbled up with all my clothes. These two pockets take care of that, and I like that they are easily accessible from the outside, without having to open the duffel up and sift through clothes to reach the little stuff.
Outside of these pockets are two mesh pockets, which are large enough to fit a narrow water bottle, like a bike bottle. I really appreciate being able to carry a bottle on the outside, especially for flying, which brings up what I like most about this bag: it’s perfect as a carry-on for flying.
It has a slim enough profile to fit lengthwise in the over-head bins of the smallest regional connector planes, but can swallow up everything I need for a few days’ visit somewhere. The back is semi-rigid, a good place to stash a laptop, and I stash food or water – things I don’t want to potentially leak – in the mesh side pockets so I can keep my hands free moving about the airport.

Outdoor Products Silverwood Duffel Backpack easily swallows up whatever you need to tote for a weekend away.
Overall, a great weekender duffel bag, or an ideal carry-on bag for travel. Outdoor products sells these in a few monotone color schemes – some mixed colors would be more interesting – but while traveling internationally a bag that doesn’t stick out is often a good idea.
Bottom line: a functional design and considering bags this size run $120 and up from premium brands, this is a fantastic bargain.
