Dale of Norway Moritz 1/2 Zip Sweater
Review by Kate Agathon
Constructed from 100 percent superwash soft merino wool, the Dale of Norway Moritz ½ Zip Sweater is just the right weight for spring apres ski and the ensuing shoulder season up here in the Colorado Rockies.
Inspired by the original 2003 St. Moritz World Ski Championships, the Moritz is one of Dale of Norway’s best sellers.

Look and Fit
With attention to the smallest of details, Dale of Norway makes the Moritz look good.
The lightweight regular fit sweater’s design offers two solid colors broken up by a ubiquitous snowflake motif and an intricate pattern that nods to the peaks and valleys of Rondane, one of Norway’s national parks.
I liked how Dale of Norway adhered to the rules of color blocking by keeping the lighter color on top and the darker on bottom, to provide the illusion of a slimmer waist. Also, because the traditional pattern is placed a little higher above the waist, it makes my middle age spread less pronounced.
The Moritz’s refined look and cleaner lines lend a bit of modern sophistication.

Compared to more traditional Dale of Norway sweaters, the Moritz offers one of the more minimalist designs whose versatility and fine wool construction allows you to wear it in different settings (romantic dinner, apres ski at the lodge, etc.). Pair it with pants, leggings, or a skirt- it will always look good!
Additionally, the cut and design of the sweater makes it appealing to women of all ages.
One of the problems I have with similar half zip sweaters from other brands is that they are often too snug or the weave is too thin. Thankfully, neither of those problems exist with the Dale of Norway Moritz ½ Zip Sweater .
The double-weave construction provides a cozy warmth that is unexpected from a fine, lighter weight sweater. Wear it solo (the merino wool is soft against skin) or with a base layer underneath; it feels nice no matter how you wear it.
Construction and Features
Dale of Norway is known for its durable construction. The Mortiz’s double layer knitted yarn is woven tightly to provide warmth and prevent show-through.
Additionally, it is soft, smooth, and offers a bit of stretch to move with you.
The understated Dale of Norway logo pull on the zipper is a nice touch, as is the dainty company patch on the left sleeve.
I also like how the black lining along the top of the collar brought depth and framed the sweater as a whole.

Final Thoughts
The Dale of Norway Moritz ½ Zip Sweater is a merger of modern and classic.
The soft, lightweight merino wool makes it a good transitional piece to wear from winter to spring to mud season and is perfect for spring in the mountains.
If I were asked to describe the Dale of Norway Moritz ½ Zip Sweater in two words, a few combinations that come to mind are: “exquisite craftsmanship”, “timeless elegance” or “wardrobe staple”.
Dale of Norway was established in 1879, so they’ve had over a century to perfect its craft and produce the best nordic sweater in the world.

It is clear that Dale of Norway put as much thought into the placement of colors and Norwegian heritage inspo as it has the quality of its construction. This is what makes the Moritz sweater stand out from the rest.
Available in five colors and four sizes, the Dale of Norway Moritz ½ Zip Sweater is a fan favorite due to its construction and overall design.
I can honestly say that it has quickly become a wardrobe staple of mine and know I will be wearing it for years to come.
