Sherpa Adventure Gear Tarcho Fleece
Review by Kate Agathon
In an outdoor apparel world dominated by shades of beige and lavender, the brightly colored Sherpa Adventure Gear’s Tarcho Full Zip Fleece and Tarcho Quarter Snap Fleece absolutely pop.
We discovered them at last month’s Outdoor Media Alliance tradeshow and were delighted.

Fit and Style
Inspired by and aptly named “Tarcho” after the five colors of Tibetan prayer flags, the Tarcho fleece is the coziest, softest fleece you’ll ever wear.
While the line between outdoor gear and daily wear has become increasingly blurred, it’s nice to see a nod to mountaineering heritage.
The Tarcho collection has a unisex fit. I typically wear a women’s size S, so I wore the XS. While I didn’t exactly swim in the XS, it was a bit spacious for a petite woman. Paul, on the other hand, wore a size M and he found it true to size.
The overall style of the Tarcho Fleece is best described as timeless: no trendy cuts or colors here.

Compared to pullovers, I prefer zippered jackets that allow for easy removal and was delighted with the full zip fleece for function.
As far as style, the Tarcho Full Zip Fleece black textured fleece gave the illusion of real wool. The mandarin standing collar contrasted with bright yellow piping was a nice style feature. The spacious contrasting zippered hand pockets and colorful snap logo chest pocket popped nicely against the black fleece as well.

Let’s turn to the pullover.
Meaningful design characterizes the Tarcho Quarter Snap Pullover. Each of the five snaps on the contrasting woven placket represent the five colors of Tarcho.
A kangaroo pocket with two openings for hands and logo sewn along the bottom hem add function and style. The same mandarin collar that is on the full zip jacket is present on the pullover as well.

Tarcho Features
- Anti-pilling
- Moisture-wicking
- Classic fit
- Set-in sleeve
- Designed and made in Nepal
- OEKO-TEX® certified
With an almost-chenille like feel, Tarcho fleece tops are soft and provide instant coziness. They were the perfect weight for shoulder season and wearing around after a day of nordic skiing.
We also wear them frequently indoors. They are so comfortable to wear and (touch!) that we often wear them inside as our “house fleece”.
If you’re looking for a timeless fleece with classic design and colors (again, huge nod to the mountaineering heritage), look no further than Sherpa Adventure Gear’s Tarcho fleece. Bonus? Every Sherpa Adventure Gear product purchase provides a donation to Room to Read’s Nepal Education Program.

The Tarcho Full Zip Fleece is available in six unisex sizes (XS to XXL) and three colors (Black, Tamur River, Peetho). The Tarcho Quarter Snap Pullover is available in three colors (Peetho, Rathee Blue, Tibetan Red) and runs in the same size options as the full zip fleece.
