Smartwool Mountain Bike Long Sleeve Jersey

I recently had an opportunity to try a brand of mountain bike jersey that I had not yet worn. The Smartwool Mountain Bike Long Sleeve Jersey! Smartwool is an outdoor clothing brand that started making Merino wool socks in 1994. Since then, they have expanded their clothing lineup, continuing to make Merino wool their mainstay fabric. I was excited to put this jersey through some days of singletrack riding in the high mountains of Colorado this fall.

Details: This long sleeve jersey is made of a blend of Merino wool and recycled polyester. The weave of the fabric has a great breathability and moisture wicking and also a technical look and feel. The jersey also has some innovative vents on the upper back to help you keep cool on the warmer days. Being made of Merino wool, this jersey is naturally odor-resistant. This jersey is designed with a longer back hem to make sure you have good coverage back there.
For this jersey, I tested a charcoal and fern green color pattern; nice natural colors that look good but also mesh with the environment without appearing too…flashy. It has a small Smartwool logo on one sleeve with a prominent brand name on the opposite sleeve.

The test rides: This jersey was super comfortable on the mountain bike. It was very breathable, protected my skin and allowed me freedom of movement, even while wearing a hydration pack over the jersey. It is definitely warm enough for a shoulder season ride and also works well with a thin base layer under it for those cooler fall morning rides. Alternatively, in cooler weather, a vest or light jacket would work well too. If you’re looking for a stylish, yet subtly designed MTB jersey that performs well, I’d recommend this Smartwool MTB jersey!

The Smartwool Mountain Bike Long Sleeve Jersey is available in three colors for men in sizes from S to XXL. For women, they also have five colors available in sizes from S to XXL. I found the size I tested to be a true fit for me.
