MSR Advance Pro 2 Tent Review
I’ve had the pleasure of using this tent in a variety of terrain including the Tetons, the Rockies, the Cascades, and of course on Rainier!
This tent can handle the rowdiest of conditions, the first time I set it up I was questionable of its simple design. Tents around us were buckling under the high winds and we were struggling to hang onto it while setting it up.
The tent uses a really cool sleeve technology that allows you to set it up while standing in place. This is crucial in environments with small areas and dicy footing. I can attest that this tent is bombproof in severe weather.
One of the other great qualities of this tent is that it is free-standing and can be set up on a wall ledge without stakes. It has ample tie-down points and can be set up in even the most precarious of locations. This tent is made for the hardcore alpinist facing some of the worst conditions. Not only that but it comes in at only 2lbs 14oz. The Easton Syclone poles are durable and lightweight and a great addition to the overall construction.

This tent is rated for two people but it is tight and gear will need to be stored outside. Sleep head to toe for optimal comfort. This is my go-to alpine tent for technical terrain. MSRP $549
