GU Energy: New GU Energy Chews and Gels

GU Energy: New Refreshing Citrus Flavors in Energy Chews and Gels
Paul Gallaher
GU Energy released some new flavors this spring – GU Energy Chews and Gels – and I’ve been able to give them a try during long endurance bike rides and hikes to keep my energy levels up.
GU Energy Chews – Lemonade Flavor:

GU Energy Chews – Lemonade Flavor
I’ve grown to really enjoy energy chews during endurance sports activities as they feel like I’m actually eating a bit of food as opposed to other sources of carb intake. There have been other GU Energy Chews I have liked in the past, and the first time I tried these lemonade chews, they became an immediate favorite! They honestly don’t taste overly sweet or sugary (even though I know they’re made of simple carbohydrates). The lemonade flavor offsets the sweetness nicely and the mix of both fructose and maltodextrin means they give you energy over a longer time frame.
Bottom Line: Of the many types of brands and flavors of energy chews I have tried, these are at the top of my list for using over and over as a source of energy on longer duration aerobic activities like hiking, cycling, and nordic skiing. GU Energy Lemonade Energy Chews are the semi-tart energy blast I need to keep going on endurance events!
GU Energy Gel – Raspberry Lemonade Flavor:

Similar to the GU Energy Chews, the gels are also a combination of maltodextrin and fructose, which helps deliver both immediate and longer-lasting energy. I’ve been using these GU gels for many years and love that they get creative and try new flavors that customers will like. I really enjoy this new flavor with the mix of sweet and tart to give me a refreshing energy boost in a compact container.
As an additional benefit, GU energy throws in some sodium and amino acids to help keep you hydrated, mentally alert and your muscles in continuous recovery mode when you’re pushing them to the limit. Be sure to take these with some water to get them metabolized into your system efficiently. I’d recommend filling your pockets with one of these for each hour you plan to work out during long events. I definitely recommend Raspberry Lemonade gels to be part of your energy planning for a long hike, bike ride or run.
