My boyfriend and I recently tried it after an afternoon of nordic skiing. We were wowed by the flavor! Skratch’s newest recovery mix tastes exactly as it is named- like natural strawberries and a creamy milkshake.
I liked the taste so much that after I had downed the first shaker bottle, I had another! I don’t think that’s how the drink was intended to be used, but I couldn’t help myself.
I half expected it to taste like the obviously artificial strawberry flavored Carnation or Nesquick instant powders of my youth.
This was not at all the case. I mean, this is Skratch we’re talking about.
While a lot of other sports nutrition companies offer drink flavors that taste like a poor imitation of the advertised flavor (I’m thinking of a particular brand that will go unnamed whose green tea flavor tastes like what I imagine soap would be), Skratch’s flavors taste exactly what they’re supposed to be- no unpleasant surprises.

Skratch differentiates themselves from others because they use real food for all their products (no artificial sweeteners, isolates, colors or preservatives) that tastes better and feels better.
What do I mean by “feels better”? Skratch is careful to strip down its recipes to keep them as simple as possible and avoid ingredients that adversely affect my gut.
Another thing that I like about the Strawberries and Cream recovery sport drink mix is that Skratch added lactase to its recovery drink mix so that my stomach won’t be upset.
This is huge. I’m lactose intolerant, and I’ve tried other recovery drink mixes that left me bloated and my stomach in knots. Knowing that Skratch has produced such a delicious tasting recovery drink that doesn’t upset my gut is fantastic.
Best of all? It is confirmed that Skratch’s Strawberries and Cream recovery sport drink mix flavor is here to stay- and is not, I repeat, not a seasonal flavor. It is currently the only fruit flavored recovery sport drink mix flavor.
Sidenote: Scratch Strawberries and Cream recovery sport drink mix can be used to make waffles! A friend over in Biked Goods made them for National Waffle Day- talk about multipurpose deliciousness.
If you like strawberries, or maybe want a bit of nostalgia, try Strawberries and Cream. It is absolutely delicious!
Skratch’s recovery sport drink mix comes in 21 oz bags and is available in five flavors: Strawberries and Cream, Chocolate, Coffee, Horchata, and Vegan Chocolate.
