Smith Trace Helmet – Comfortable Fit and Good Looks

In a world of ugly road bike helmets (and there are plenty this season), the Smith Trace helmet stands out for its sleek, modern design that looks good while protecting your head.

Unlike some other top helmet brands, the Smith Trace road bike helmet doesn’t sit awkwardly on the top of your head resembling a bulbous Super Mario Brothers mushroom cap, nor does it look like an aero castoff from the Alien costume department. Instead, it looks so good, it’s something you actually want to wear.

With its Koroyd ventilation strategically placed along the top and front, and six classic colorways (Black Matte/Cement, Matte Blackout, Matte Dew/Aurora/Bone, Matte Stone/Moss, Poppy/Terra/Storm, and White/Matte White) that match any kit, the Smith Trace road bike helmet has a very distinct look.

While it has been several years since I have worn any Smith bike helmet (at the time, even the smallest size was slightly too roomy for my head), I was relieved to discover that the current Smith Trace road bike helmet fit my head perfectly!

After I initially dialed it in for a secure fit, I was happy how comfortably it fit and that it required no adjustments during my rides. Unlike some other bike helmets that I’ve previously worn, the straps are thinner and do not twist or require cutting access length.

Another feature that I really liked about the Smith Trace road bike helmet was that I finally had a helmet where I could easily and quickly stow my eyewear on the helmet when conditions changed (and it looks so pro).

The Smith Trace road bike helmet felt as light as it looked and my forehead wasn’t nearly as sweaty as it normally was after wearing another brand’s helmet on a long ride.

Let’s talk about function. Packed with Mips and Koroyd technology, the helmet has all kinds of features to keep your brain safe from injury and keep your head cool.

The Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (Mips) is a low-friction layer that protects the brain and reduces rotational forces to the head.

The patented Koroyd technology’s honeycomb-shaped appearance provides exceptional ventilation. Also, much like a car bumper, Koroyd technology is designed to increase impact resistance.

I recommend the Smith Trace road bike helmet for anyone who does road biking for its overall aesthetically pleasing design and superior ventilation.

The Smith Trace road bike helmet checks all the boxes for me: looks great, feels light, is comfortable to wear, and meets all the safety requirements. I know this will be my helmet of choice every time I go on a road bike ride this season.
