Thermarest Neoair Uberlite Sleeping Pad review – Super Fast and Uberlite
Abbey Gottinger

The first thing I want to mention about the Thermarest Neoair Uberlite sleeping pad is how FAST it inflates. My former backpacking sleeping bag was not only three times as big but took so much effort to blow up.
I would sometimes feel dizzy. I was able to inflate the Neoair Uberlite in about two minutes. The wing-lock valve makes it very easy to inflate without worrying about losing air between breaths.

It also comes with a pump sack if you prefer to use that. I want to highlight how warm I was with this sleeping pad. I was out in the Colorado mountains in October, and it got below 30 degrees at night. The 2.5 inches cushion between me and the ground made a huge difference.
I am a side sleeper and typically struggle to get comfortable on a sleeping pad. It’s usually that grin-and-bear-it-because-I-like-backpacking attitude. However, I could sleep comfortably on my side using this sleeping pad. Despite being light, the Neoair Uberlite has a very stable surface, and I didn’t “sink in” as I usually do when sleeping on my side.

I will say, though, to make sure you close the valve when you finish inflating it. I made that mistake the first night and will not do so again! It’s just as easy to deflate and pack up the Neoair Uberlite as it is to inflate it.
It took me a few times to get my former sleeping pad small enough to fit in its bag, but the Neoair Uberlite smoothly fits back into its stuff sack. I am 5’5” and used a regular-sized pad that fit me well. I highly recommend the Neoair Uberlite for its convenient setup/take-down, stability and lightweight. I have been searching for a comfortable, light sleeping pad for a long time, and I finally found it!
