Worn by Uno-X Mobility, the lightweight Sweet Protection Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips is engineered for speed, comfort and boosted protection.
Initial Impressions
Ever since I noticed Uno-X Mobility wearing Sweet Protection helmets in the Tour de France a couple of years ago, I’ve been intrigued.
I just loved the appearance of Sweet Protection’s top-of-the-line helmets!
Their helmets stood out to me because unlike many in the peloton, they were neither too bulbous (like Toad from Super Mario Brothers) or too thick. While many aerodynamic helmets sacrifice appearance for function (Trek Ballista, I’m looking at you), the Sweet Protection Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips does not.

Features
My favorite feature of the Sweet Protection Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips are the magnetic Aerodynamic Aerocovers that allow me to regulate ventilation.

They snap into place and are easy to remove. I appreciate the versatility of this feature because I can opt to protect my head from the elements or keep it cool, depending on weather conditions and/or temperature changes.
When mounted, the Aerodynamic Aerocovers reduce drag and limit air flow. When the magnetic covers are removed, air ventilation increases (nice for hotter days).

My runner up favorite feature are the eyewear grippers (no more removing them and having them dangle awkwardly from my jersey collar), because I like being able to easily and intuitively stash my eyewear.
Sweet Protection put a lot of effort into its design. Thanks to the exact placement of the gripper feature, TPU inserts, and long internal channels, the eyewear stems remained secure and did not create hot spots pushing into my head.

Other features include:
- 2Vi helmet technology designed by Sweet Protection to increase safety and comfort without sacrificing weight.
- The ponytail-compatible Occigrip 360Fit System completely surrounds the head, allowing maximum comfort. Riders can quickly dial in the height (there are 3 height settings) and width of the helmet.
- Superficial Temporal Arteries Cooling Channel (STACC) Ventilation pulls air to critical areas on the head and keeps the helmet light and airflow-friendly.
- Magnetic Fidlock System allows for quick and secure fastening with one hand.

Function
Weighing just 300g, the ultra lightweight helmet was a relief to wear; especially on hot days with hill climbs.
I live in the heart of Colorado ski country, where living at a high elevation means the sun is that much more intense. The STACC ventilation is noticeable and has kept my head cool on slow rides where I previously would have been red-faced and sweaty.
Safety
Virginia Tech awarded the Sweet Protection Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips 5 stars for safety and ranked it #30 out of 304 helmets tested. In the event of a crash, the system ensures that impact is distributed over larger areas in crucial zones across the head.
Safety features include:
- The integrated Mips Air Safety System that reduces rotational forces on the brain during an angled crash.
- Strategically placed impact shields combined with a complex shock-absorbing EPS liner provide maximum impact protection.
Final Thoughts
Even though it sits a little high, the Sweet Protection Falconer Aero 2Vi Mips is one of the few road bike helmets on the market that fits my small head comfortably. I like it for its comfort, sleek design, and functionality.

Another plus is that if your Sweet Protection helmet gets involved in a crash, the company offers a 40 percent discount on current retail price when you purchase a replacement through its Crash Replacement Program.
The helmet is available in 3 sizes (SM, M/L, L/XL) and five colors (Bronco White, Burnt Brown, Matte Black, Misty Turquoise, Satin White).
