With a UPF 50+ sun protection, the odor-resistant lightweight hoodie wicks moisture away and keeps the focus on your activity instead of your clothing.

The Women’s HH LIFA® ACTIVE Solen Hoodie was the first non-winter piece of Helly Hansen apparel that I have worn since I was a kid (my mom bought me a Helly Hansen rain jacket on sale while vacationing in Connecticut 30 years ago), so I was somewhat skeptical about how it would perform.
Can an outdoor clothing brand with a sailing heritage and known for its winter apparel produce quality warm weather apparel too? Yes it can.

The Women’s HH LIFA® ACTIVE Solen Hoodie did well and was perfect for a late summer hike with varying conditions in which the weather turned more than a couple of times.
When we first left the house, it was cool. When we began the hike at a higher elevation, it was overcast and even cooler. Then the clouds disappeared and it got hot. Not once did I feel uncomfortable or wish that I had brought another layer. My body temperature remained regulated.
Additionally, I liked the flattering texture of the 2 layer pleated fabric- not too smooth or compression-like which most sun hoodies that I’ve worn in the past tend to be made from (if you’re middle aged and somewhat soft in certain areas like me, you pay close attention to unflattering fabric that sits close to the body).

Speaking of material, Helly Hansen’s Solen material is constructed from 60 percent recycled polyester and 40 percent polypropylene. What makes the Solen Collection material unique is that you can feel morally good about what you’re wearing.
Specifically, the Solen Collection’s UPF 50+ sun protection is made without the use of harmful chemicals. Instead, it uses S.Café® technology that utilizes used coffee grounds. Additionally, LIFA® ACTIVE technology contains Ocean Bound recycled materials and provides necessary moisture-wicking all day long.

Not only did I like the way it performed, but I liked the way it fit. It wasn’t too baggy, nor was it too tight. I liked how the hoodie had a slight cross over design to give the perception of more depth. I also liked the discreet tonal logos and lack of features such as drawstrings- way to keep it simple!
I recommend the HH LIFA Active Solen Hoodie for every day outdoor adventure where there is sure to be plenty of sun. The hoodie is available in three colors: Rose Quartz, White and Navy.
