The Patagonia Cool Capilene Daily Hoody is perfect for high alpine days, where opportunities for exposure to harmful UV rays from the sun greatly increase.

Among all the hoodies that I have reviewed this season, this is hands down my favorite daily (because I do wear it nearly every day) hoody. I love the way it looks while wearing it and how it feels even under the hottest sun.

I’ve worn the Patagonia Cool Capilene Daily Hoody while hiking, around town, and on the water. Comprised of recycled polyester, the stretch fabric moves with me and doesn’t feel icky or smelly.

Not only does it protect me from the sun, but also bugs and tall bushes while I hike. When I come home without bug bites, sunburn, or scratches from bushes, that is a good day.

Since I’m in between sizes, I usually go for the larger size. However, I’m relieved I went with the smaller size in Patagonia’s Cool Capilene Daily Hoody. The fit is true to size and looks great. I wore a size small and I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t too tight on my middle-aged torso.

The sleeve length was absolutely perfect. No rolling up the cuffs! The only feature that I felt was missing from the hoody was thumb holes. I know I’ll wear it when it gets cooler (pairing it with a vest, wearing it as a base layer, etc.), and they’re nice to have.

Additionally, it has minimal stitching to prevent chafing, which I appreciate. Other brands have had similar approaches to their hoodies (minimal stitching, etc.) but haven’t quite managed to make it feel, look, and perform as well as Patagonia has.

Patagonia’s Cool Capilene Daily Hoody has become my unofficial everyday summer/early fall shirt that takes me everywhere. I absolutely want another (and new fall colors were just released)!

Compared to its competitors, Patagonia’s overall quality (design, material, etc.) makes it a superior hoody.

Finally, the Cool Capilene Daily Hoody is the first Patagonia Capilene piece that I’ve worn. After enjoying it so much, I’m eager to try out the rest of the collection.

I recommend the Patagonia Cool Capilene Daily Hoody for everyday adventure, especially in a high alpine environment with lots of sun exposure.
