What better way to celebrate the last dog days of summer with a frozen yogurt treat for your dog?

The Bear and Rat frozen treat
Skip the sugary, high calorie puppuccinos and give your dog a healthy, frozen treat packed with prebiotic and digestive enzymes in flavors dogs love.
We like The Bear and the Rat for having healthy treats in dog-approved flavors, including Bacon and Peanut Butter, Banana and Peanut Butter, and Pumpkin and Cinnamon* (Utah’s favorite was Bacon and Peanut Butter). Newly launched products include Frozen Goat Milk and Frozen Goat Milk with Coconut.
The story of the Denver-based frozen dog treat company goes back to 2010, when founders Matt and Meg Meyer were hand-filling each cup of dog treat from their home for their lhasa apso who growled like a “Bear”, and his brother, the “Rat” terrier.
At the time, the couple realized that the frozen dog treats available were not made of quality ingredients that promoted canine gut health. Compared to other dog frozen treats, they wanted to make the healthiest frozen dog treats possible.
Additionally, they wanted to make quality dog treats in a variety of flavors that dogs love: applewood smoked bacon, pumpkin, banana, etc. Since there were no frozen dog treats that met their criteria, they decided to go into business themselves.

Although their 2012 product pitch on Shark Tank did not garner a deal, they persisted. Over a decade later, their product is found in King Soopers, Whole Foods, and speciality pet supply stores.
Available in packs of 4 cups, The Bear and The Rat frozen dog treats are great to have on hand in your freezer, or good to bring as a gift to gatherings with dogs.
*Interesting note: because all the frozen treats use 100 percent human-grade food and is produced in an FDA regulated facility, the product is safe for humans to taste.
