Ibex Rambler Crew Sock

Review by Will Trail

Initial Impressions

I recently tested the Ibex Rambler Crew Socks in the Warmwood/Green Gables colorway. My experience with wool socks had been limited, so I was curious to see how these would perform in terms of comfort, durability, and overall feel.

Detailed Review

Right out of the package, the Ibex Rambler Crew Socks impressed me with their softness and plush cushioning—a clear testament to their 100% Merino wool construction. Designed as all-day hiking socks, they feature seamless toe construction and a 3D knit structure that reduces bulk and friction. Targeted cushioning in high-impact zones helps combat foot fatigue, while the mid-calf height and generous stretch provide a secure, comfortable fit for a variety of leg shapes.
I wore them to the office, on hikes, and even while mountain biking. In every setting, they performed exceptionally well. My feet stayed cool and dry during warmer activities and comfortably warm in cooler temperatures. I’d peg their ideal range at roughly 20–75 °F, making them suitable for year-round use. They never slipped or bunched, and more than once I forgot I was wearing them—a true sign of all-day comfort.

Thanks to the natural properties of Merino wool, the Ibex Rambler Crew Socks are also impressively odor-resistant. After multiple consecutive wears and a few cautious “sniff tests,” I detected no unpleasant smells. Durability is equally strong: even in high-wear areas, I’ve seen no pilling or signs of premature wear.

Closing Thoughts

The Ibex Rambler Crew Socks combine the best qualities of Merino wool—softness, breathability, temperature regulation, and odor resistance—in a durable, versatile package. Equally at home in the office or on the trail, they deliver reliable comfort and understated style. They’ve quickly become a go-to in my drawer for both active and everyday use.
