The Nomadix Festival Blanket is the perfect ground cover to take along with you on trips to the park, picnics, outdoor concerts, or camping trips.

I originally got the Nomadix Festival Blanket for my Ragnar Relay in Zion, where our group of 8 women glamped in a race-provided gigantic tent.  I wasn’t sure what the ground surface would be like and I wanted to have something where we could sit, stretch, and change shoes without getting dirty.

Before my race in Ragnar, I spread the Nomadix Festival Blanket on my dining room hardwood floor, allowing my three cats to take turns gear testing it.  They had a GREAT time lounging in sunbeams on the blanket and one even turned it into a slip and slide.  When it came time to pack for Ragnar, I was horrified at the insane amount of cat hair that had stuck to the blanket.  It was BAD.

The MicroSuede™ fabric that comprises the top-facing layer of the Nomadix Festival Blanket is very soft.  It feels lovely to sit on. It sheds sand and dirt.  But cat hair sticks to it like a magnet.  In a panic, I put the blanket in the dryer on air dry for 20 minutes. It helped a bit, but not enough.  Then, I tossed the blanket in my washing machine, hoping a full wash + dry would do the trick.  Miraculously, all (and I mean ALL) of the cat hair came off the blanket after a full wash and dry.  Hurrah!

Once clean, I folded up the Nomadix Festival Blanket and packed it into my suitcase for Ragnar.

The blanket is 5 ft wide x 6 feet long.  This will fit 2 adults lying down with a little room for movement.   It will fit 4-5 adults sitting fairly comfortably, more if you are really good friends and squeeze together.

The bottom of the Nomadix Festival Blanket is water resistant.  Our glamping tent ended up being situated on a grass field.  No moisture from the ground seeped up through the blanket during the 48 hours of use.

It also ended up being a blanket-blanket for one of my Ragnar teammates.  Temperatures were in the upper 30s and she was pretty cold during the night. A quick shake of the Nomadix Festival Blanket to knock the dirt and grass off of it, and it became a nice bonus blanket to help keep her warm.

We didn’t need to use the anchoring corners, but they are a nice feature.  Bring some tent stakes along on your outing and the corners of the Nomadix Festival Blanket will stay in place and not get blown around.

I most love how versatile the Nomadix Festival Blanket is.  At 2 pounds total weight, it’s easy to fold up and put into a day bag. I plan on using the blanket when my nephew’s come to visit in a few weeks (they love parks and I love a picnic).

I know that we’ll find uses for the blanket van camping.  We often like to camp and ride mountain bikes, but I’ve struggled with finding areas suitable for some evening stretching or yoga.  I usually end up on a picnic table (on the rare instance that we have one) or the floor of my cramped van.  The Nomadix Festival Blanket can easily be stored in one of my van’s compartments.  It’s going to be great to spread the blanket on the ground after a hard ride and stretch everything out.

Closing Thoughts

The Nomadix Festival Blanket is a durable and packable blanket that will make any on-the-ground time more pleasant.

The Nomadix Festival Blanket comes in four vibrant patterns and is available in a single size.
