Patagonia Women’s Stand Up Overalls

Review by Kate Agathon

The Patagonia Women’s Stand Up Overalls prove that you don’t have to be a teenager to enjoy wearing some fun shortalls.

The one-and-done summer fashion staple are playful, casual and perfect for sunny days. Wear them for patio time at the local brewery, backyard barbecues, going to the farmer’s market, or when you just want to feel cute.

Overalls have a timeless silhouette. The fabric may change or the colors may change, but the look and fun vibe always remain.

Often paired with Blundstones, Birkiclogs, or sandals, overalls are a staple of mountain town women of all ages. Therefore, I was eager to try Patagonia’s Stand Up Overalls.

Fit and Style

Patagonia’s Stand Up Overalls are neither too tight or too baggy.

I’ve worn other brands whose very subtle design changes -such as a narrow bib or nipped in waist- are not flattering to middle aged bodies. Other overalls I’ve tried have impossibly tight midsections.

Thankfully, Patagonia’s design is good for all body types. My favorite design feature was the sides- just high enough to prevent unflattering muffin tops.

Also, the canvas material was not too heavy, nor was it too stiff, which was nice.

Constructed from durable 98 percent Regenerative Organic Certified® cotton, the canvas material was not too heavy, nor too bulky. The 2 percent spandex added comfort and stretch.

Features

  • Two front slash pockets
  • Two back drop-in pockets
  • Metal shank buttons
  • Adjustable straps with sliders
  • Patagonia® P-6 logo near the left-front hem

The metal shank buttons along the sides made removal easier and I liked the Patagonia logo engraving on the buttons too- just a nice extra detail.

The roomy front pockets are deep and exactly what you’d expect in overalls (you’d be surprised at how many overalls sacrifice spacious pockets for some other style feature).

I found the relaxed fit overalls true to size and the style flattering. I preferred the Smolder Blue color because it was the closest to a go-with-anything look of classic denim.

Perfect for bike festivals and all kinds of summer fun, the Patagonia Stand Up Overalls are available in five sizes (XS to XL) and four colors (Smolder Blue, Valley Khaki, Caper Green, and Natural).
