Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel Shirt
Review by Kate Agathon
It’s flannel season!
The Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel Shirt is a comfortable flannel button down that will get you through fall and the subsequent shoulder season in style.
Stio’s quality construction and attention to detail in its Mountain West-inspired design sets it apart from the rest of the flannels.
The first thing I noticed about the Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel Shirt was how soft the double-brushed 100 percent organic cotton felt against my skin. No breaking in time required!
The second thing I noticed were the details: pointed yoke along the back, chest pockets with pointed flaps, shirt tail hem, and delicate Stio pearl snaps along the front placket and chest pocket closures. These details gave it a refined, stylish look.

Look and Style
The relaxed fit Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel Shirt is neither too boxy, nor too slim.
I wore the only solid color available (Quiet Gray Heather) because it was the most versatile and went with everything: leggings, jeans, canvas work pants, and technical hiking pants. While it looked okay tucked in, I usually wore it hanging out because it just felt more comfortable.
The Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel looked nice and gave some of my ensembles a slightly elevated look while still retaining its Mountain West vibes.
However, I would have liked a bit of a more tailored fit and shorter sleeves (I’m petite, so I often found myself rolling up the adjustable cuffs). At this time, Stio does not offer extended sizes (i.e. short or tall) for this shirt.
For those who prefer a more casual look, the Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel Shirt is offered in three plaid prints and one striped print.

Additional Features:
- Double layer collar
- Custom Stio® pearl snaps at front closure
- Custom Stio® logo
- 220 gram weight
- Vintage wash for lived-in feel
Overall Thoughts
If you want a nice transition button up flannel that is a bit more refined and elevated than the rest, you’ll want to try the Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel.
The weight was perfect for mountain life and provided just enough warmth without being too bulky, thick, or itchy.
This fall, I have really enjoyed wearing it while going out – especially when I am down in the city and I want to dress things up just a little bit, but still feel warm.
I recommend ordering a size down. I typically wear a size small, but in this case, the size extra small fitted much better.
I love so much of Stio’s apparel because of its thoughtful design and solid, eco-friendly construction meant to be worn for more than just a season. In this case, I plan on wearing it on repeat for years.
It’s nice to have a versatile wardrobe staple that can be dressed up or down and I look forward to taking it on vacation next month when we go mountain biking in Arizona.
If you’re used to wearing mountain casual but want to dress it up a bit during fall and shoulder season, the Stio Slipstone Midweight Flannel is the way to go.
