Adidas Terrex Swift R2 GTX Hiking Boot – Incredible Grip
Waterproof and Grippy
Adidas Terrex Swift R2 GTX Hiking Boot
The Terrex Swift R2 Mid GTX hiking boot from Adidas is a great option for hiking in wet terrain or backpacking with moderate loads.
Continental Rubber Traxion = Incredible Grip
The grip on these hiking boots is impressive! Made from Continental rubber (the guys who make good tires), these boots kept a grip in wet conditions as well as on rocks and loose dirt. I like that while the grip is great on wet terrain, it is not too chunky for use in urban environments. It is a nice balance of grip and comfort.
GoreTex waterproof breathable insert
If you are looking for a boot keep your feet dry, then this would fit the bill. Thanks to the GoreTex insert, these boots keep the water and snow out. They also allow for heat and moisture to evaporate. That is almost just as important than keeping the moisture out. Of course, nothing breaths as well as nonwaterproof boots, but that is not why you are looking at these in the first place!
Great fit and function
I tested out a size 11.5 and found that to be spot on. I have reviewed other Adidas boots in size 11.5 and felt they were a tad too large. Not so with the Terrex Swift boot. See our Adidas Terrex Free Hiker Review for an example of the sizing issue. It was nice to try on a pair of boots that fit perfectly.
I dig the bungee lace holder as well. I don’t always tie my shoes, well heck, I almost NEVER tie them! So the cord management system was a nice touch.
Adidas Terrex Swift R2 Mid GTX Boot Review
This hiking boot is a great balance of waterproofness, comfort, grip, fit and looks. I enjoyed using these on hiking trails, in rainstorms and walking in wet conditions. The fit is great and spot on. The rubber toe caps are a nice touch and I feel like they saved me from stubbing my toe on several occasions.
These boots are just at home in the city as they are on the trail. They look sharp and seem to be built to last. If you are in the market for a utilitarian, attractive, waterproof hiking boot, then the Adidas Terrex Swift R2 Mid GTX would fit the bill nicely! A good deal for $170
