I have been running for at least the last twenty-six years and can’t remember ever having a pair of sunglasses that I enjoyed running in. Don’t get me wrong I would wear them, but it would take a few hours of squinting before I gave in and put them on. I disliked wearing them for a variety of reasons including sliding off my face, bouncing, not fitting with a hat, or being shaded too dark for trails. My go-to solution when forced to wear them was using a strap to basically synch them to my face. This being said when a hydration pack company launched a pair of shades, I was a bit skeptical.

However, Nathan’s Sports has completely nailed it with their new shades. It’s apparent that these were created with the runner in mind. I have been running in them for a month or so and they are a joy to run in. They are not too dark but still provide enough shade to protect your eyes on sunny days.

They feel very durable but don’t feel too heavy. The frames are very comfortable and coated with a very soft grip-coat. This keeps them from sliding off your nose or shifting on your ears. And while they excel in technical abilities, they don’t lose touch with design aesthetics or looks. They are just as good for that intense cornhole match at the brewery as they are for your morning run.

Key Features:

Sun Protection: The polarized lenses provide great sun protection without making things too dark for shaded trails. I run through a lot of pine forests and never felt like I had to take them off to see in shaded areas.

No-Slip Design: The soft grip coating on the frame and rubber grip in the nose area prevents the glasses from sliding around or bouncing. I recently wore them on a very chunky and rock-strewn downhill section of the Appalachian trail and experienced zero bouncing or sliding down on my face.

This is amazing as my downhill technic often resembles tumbling rather than running. I also often wear them with a hat and have found them to still fit well. The consistently comfortable fit has led me to drastically increase how often I wear sunglasses, which is a huge win for my eyes!

Durable: So far, I have found these to be very durable. The lenses have held up well and the frames are still tight and straight. I often just chuck these in the brain pocket of my work bag with no case or cover and they have held up well. I have not had a chance to test them with a helmet yet but my assumption is that they would stand up to bending or becoming misaligned from the weight of the helmet.

Fit: One size fits most.

Bonus: they come prescription ready!

MSRP: $50.00
