Mile High Mountaineering Salute 34 Backpack review

I’ve been testing the Mile High Mountaineering Salute 34, for about six weeks now and it still looks brand new! This is a highly durable pack using Cordura fabric and solid construction throughout! MHM really nailed it out of the park with this pack. It makes a viable option for a mid-size day pack from a company that stands behind their work!

Mile High Mountaineering Salute 34 Backpack

This pack has almost every feature imaginable, it has nine pockets, a very functional snake loader zipper (my favorite part about this pack) deployable straps that stow away when not being used, and a built-in rain cover for those surprise storms! It also features ice ax loops and multiple attachment points. I can’t think of anything else I would add to it.

This pack carries weight exceptionally well but can take a little bit of work to load correctly. The suspension system is beefy and works flawlessly keeping the weight on my hips. I have noticed that this pack helps keep me more organized not only in the outdoors but I also use it daily to carry my computer, and other electronics.

The pack is listed at 34 liters of capacity and I believe that to be correct but with all of the pockets the main body can feel small. It teaches you to pack correctly and could definitely sustain an overnight fastpacking trip. I’ve also worn it bike commuting, climbing, hiking, and have found it to be a great all-around pack.

MHM has done a great job creating the Salute 34. The pack is highly durable, well thought out, and does its intended job. The price is a little on the higher end for a day pack but with the materials choice and quality of construction its a worthy option. I’m super stoked to continue to use this pack in the future as part of my kit! Grab one for $169 from MHM.
