BioLite Headlamp 750 – Super Light and Bright

The new BioLite Headlamp 750 ($99) is a super light (150 grams) and super bright (750 lumens) headlamp for serious night time adventures. I have had a pre-production sample for a few weeks and it has been lighting up the night!

I received the Headlamp 750 several weeks ago and immediately took it camping with our dogs. There is currently a fire ban in Colorado (has been all summer) so it was up to the BioLite Headlamp 750 to provide the light for us on our trips.

That was a menial job for this headlamp LOL.  I wound up using it at lower lumens most of the time. There were only a few times that I really needed to use the “burst” mode of 750 lumens.  One of those times was at a mew camp spot on my friend’s private property.  I don’t usually get spooked when camping, but there seemed to be a pack of animals flanking us in the meadow we were camping in.  I hit the 30-second burst and watched several sets of eyes turn and run.

I hope you don’t have to use the extra lumens for that kind of situation, but it is nice to know it is there 🙂 There are a few pics below to show how bright it lit the area up. Again, most of the time I used it on a much lower setting (it is fully dimmable) as I just don’t need that much power for camping.

Constant power

Most headlamps eventually dim as the power drains.  Somehow, the BioLite Headlamp 750 is able to produce 500 lumens for a full 2 hours.  You can even add an external battery source to it and run indefinitely.  That is really sweet for nighttime marathons and other night adventures.

Actually comfortable

It may look big and weird, but this headlamp fits well and is actually pretty comfortable.  The whole package is just 6 ounces (150 grams) and the material is stretchy and comfortable.  Even my wife did not mind the fit!
