Mystery Ranch Rip Ruck 15L Review – Quick Access in a Small Package

The Mystery Ranch Rip Ruck 15L is the smallest of 3 Rip Ruck backpacks. It features an ultra-fast opening system and can hold a 15″ laptop. It is a non-adjustable pack and made for quick hits and lighter everyday use.

The Rip Ruck 15L is the smallest of the 3 backpacks in the Rip Ruck line.  It features a very quick access top panel that is easy to use. This even faster than the 3 way quick access that we have used on the 2 Day Assault and other Mystery Ranch backpacks. So, that is pretty dang fast access!

This backpack is non-adjustable though.  At 15L, you probably don’t need adjustments anyways. Though the Rip Ruck 15L still has beefy straps that handle loads very well.  It is a bare-bones pack for sure.  Aside from one stretch pocket on the side *for a water bottle) there is a verticle access pocket.  This pocket is great for pens and business cards.

On the inside, there is a protective sleeve for a laptop (up to 15″) and a sleeve for a tablet or paperwork and an organizer style pocket. Pretty standard but functional.

The only caveat I can think of is not having a small pocket on the lid.  I am used to having this kind of pocket and find that I use it all the time.  I am not sure why there is not one on the Rip Ruck.  Minor complaint.

There is a nice place for morale patches on the top panel as well as MOLLE webbing. Making this backpack pretty customizable.  It looks sharp as well.

I usually use backpacks in the 25-30L range, so this pack was a bit small for my EDC needs. But I can see it is a great backpack for someone who does not carry as much stuff as I do!
