Nemo Moonlite Reclining Camp Chair Review

The Nemo Moonlight Reclining Camp Chair is the most comfortable packable camp chair you will ever find. Even without using the adjustable reclining support feature, you will notice how surprisingly supportive the chair is.

Since 2016, I have used Helinox camp chairs for camping and concerts, but as soon as I tried Nemo’s Moonlight Reclining Camp Chair, I immediately replaced them.

Constructed from 100 percent post-consumer webbing and mesh, the Nemo Moonlight Reclining Camp Chair is springy and supportive. Unlike other packable camping chairs, you don’t have to adjust yourself or feel resigned to sitting in some discomfort for the sake of sitting outdoors.

The Nemo Moonlite’s signature feature is the adjustable reclining support. An ingenious pulley system built into the armrest, the adjustable reclining support allows you to lean back with a simple pull of the buckles, and sit back upright with another pull.

The Nemo Moonlite can accommodate up to 300 pounds. It is also comfortable for people of varying heights: I am 5’0” and my partner is 6’2”. We both found the Nemo Moonlite Reclining Camp Chair comfortable to sit in for extended periods of time.

For about two weeks after it arrived, I left it open and upright in our office because it was so comfortable to sit in. It was easy to maneuver and talk to my partner while he was at his desk. A bonus is that it was also the perfect height for our dogs to approach and put their noses on my lap!

Available in five colors (Blue Horizon, Mango/Frost, Blue Granite/Rosebud, Black Pearl, and Lagoon), the Nemo Moonlite Reclining Camp Chair is easy to put together and packs down into its own zippered bag for transport. My only complaint is that I’m not a huge fan of the shiny hardwear on the legs. Unassuming plain black would have been fine.

Finally, I should mention that this is a best seller at the REI where I work and we cannot keep them in stock. Once customers sit in them after trying out others, they buy them. For example, last month, a customer was looking for a packable chair for an upcoming festival he was attending. He asked for recommendations and I showed him the Nemo Moonlite. Once he sat down, a broad grin spread across his face. I could tell he was as pleasantly surprised as I was the first time I sat down on the chair.

The Nemo Moonlite Reclining Camp Chair packed weight is 2 pounds. For those on the go, there is a lighter version (Moonlite Elite Reclining Backpacking Chair) available that weighs 1 pound and comes with its own footprint.
