Thermarest MondoKing 3D Sleeping Pad – Super Comfortable

The Thermarest MondoKing 3D Sleeping Pad $229 is a luxury sleeping pad made to keep you comfortable in all 4 seasons.  It is extra wide and long and has 4+” of comfort.

If you have the space to use this sleeping pad, it will serve you very well.  The Thermarest MondoKing 3D Sleeping Pad is not a backpacking sleeping pad.  However, it is a very comfortable and useful pad for car camping, house guests, and use as an actual bed.

I used this XXL sleeping pad in cold temps and snow.  It was also used in our home on several occasions as my bed (and one of our 60lb dogs!) The pad is self-inflating as well.  I find that if I keep the pad stored flat, it inflates faster. Though, storing it rolled up is fine as well.  I add a few breaths to it to speed up the process.

The MondoKing is a little bigger than most LW (long wide) sleeping pads.  The unit I am testing is the XXLarge version and is 30″ wide (as opposed to 25″ on most others) and 80″ long (again, several inches longer than other LW sleeping pads)

What this means is that you might want to measure your tent if you plan on getting one of these.  Some of the lighter weight backpacking tents I tested this in, were a very tight fit.  There is a large version as well that is more in line with other LW sleeping pads.  So, you can still enjoy the MondoKing features!

If you are looking for the most comfortable, reliable and warm sleeping pad for car (or truck) camping – this is for you. Through in the fact that it has such a high R-value and can be used for cold weather camping, and you have an ideal sleeping pad.  Personally, another big plus in my book, is that it is made in the USA.  Anytime you can get gear made in your country, is a good thing.
