Last month, we sat down with bigtruck founder, Galen Gifford, to find out more about the brand and their #FunFirst philosophy.  But we didn’t offer an opinion on the hats themselves.  Fear not, faithful readers – we have an opinion!

Should you be wearing a bigtruck hat?

We’ve been playing around with two of their styles for the last month or so: the Classic 6-panel and the OG foam crown. They’re both prime examples of what a trucker hat should look like.

bigtruck’s OG is definitely gangster. The foam-backed, single front panel rides up into a high crown. OGs are available with curved or flat bills. We’re not huge fans of the high-crown foam trucker, but that probably because we’re just not cool enough to properly rock them. Our tester came with a wrinkled hatband inside that we couldn’t seem to straighten out.  That said, bigtruck also sent us one of their Goggle-style OGs and the hatband was pristine.

The Classic features a lower-profile crown with a pre-curved bill. Definitely our preferred style.

The variety of color combos bigtruck offers is enough to make your head spin. Toss in special collabs with cool companies and the Tahoe hat bar – you’ve got a winner.

Do we wish for things?  Of course, we do.  We wish for a bit more consideration of environmental impact – organic cotton and recycled petroleum-based products (like the mesh back and OG foam) would be nice.
