Pearl Izumi Rove long sleeve shirt – my favorite shirt
Kate Agathon
My favorite plaid shirt this year is the Pearl Izumi Rove long sleeve shirt. This work shirt is definitely designed with cyclists in mind.
I love fall because it is plaid shirt/beanie season- my unofficial uniform for the next several months!
While I’ve been a plaid flannel shirt aficionado for several years, Pearl Izumi’s Rove shirt distinguishes itself from others in its construction.

First of all, the Rove isn’t actually flannel- it is made of moisture-wicking polyester twill that has the look and feel of flannel.
Although it is a relaxed fit, the shirt hangs beautifully without looking shapeless or bulky (this feature alone makes it perfect to wear for work).
The technical aspects of the fabric help to keep me dry. I bike commute, so I don’t like to arrive as a hot, wrinkled mess (I mean, there are some standards, even in the outdoor recreation industry).
I also appreciate the slightly longer tail that provides more coverage- a small, but important detail that as both a mountain biker, and a commuter is definitely noticed.
I’d love to see Pearl Izumi come out with more prints and colors. I’d definitely buy them and slowly replace the plaid flannels in my closet with these.
In short? The Pearl Izumi Rove is the fall work shirt for cyclists. Wear it to the office. Wear it on the single track. Wear it to grab a pint with friends. The Pearl Izumi Rove will keep you looking good and feeling good.
