Fit and Function

For full transparency, due to a warm winter, I haven’t been able to fully test out the Danner Inquire Winter Hiking Boots.  Sadly, we have been short on snow AND cold and I’ve only been able to wear these boots while running errands and on a short hike.  Therefore, this review will cover fit and go over designed functionality.

The Danner Inquire Winter Hiking Boots are an insulated winter hiking boot. I am a women’s size 8.5 in hiking boots and 9 in most running shoes.  I have a women’s size 8.5 in these boots and I feel that they fit true to size.

The Danner Inquire Winter Hiking Boots look like a hiking boot but feel more like an insulated winter boot.  The boots are well insulated, with 200G PrimaLoft®.  The boot ankle collar has a nice, fuzzy fleece lining that gives the boot a visual winter vibe, as well as adding to overall comfort and warmth.

The Danner Inquire Winter Hiking Boots are also waterproof, thanks to the Danner® Dry lining.  I was not able to actually test the waterproofing of the boot, but I can attest that the boots are pretty breathable.  With an entire day of wear at the office, my feet didn’t feel clammy or sweaty.

The Vibram® IceTrek2 outsole is plenty grippy, offering the kind of traction that you’d want in a hiking boot.  I tested the boots out on a short hike and was impressed with how the tread handled both rocky and softer surfaces.

The removable OrthoLite footbed and Plyolite® midsole offer a nice amount of support without feeling too squishy. I also had plenty of room in the Danner Inquire Winter Hiking Boots to accommodate a wide range of socks, from summer weight to medium-thick hiking socks.

Closing Thoughts

The Danner Inquire Winter Hiking Boots are a versatile winter hiking boot that is a welcome addition to anyone’s winter footwear wardrobe.  These boots are intended for hiking, light backcountry use but are also great for daily living activities.

The Danner Inquire Winter Hiking Boots are available for women in sizes ranging from 5 to 12. These boots are available in Coyote Brown and Jet Black colorways.

She’s also racing the a National Championship Road Sprint and Olympic Distance race in Milwaukee and a few other off road triathlons and bike races.  In 2027, she will represent Team USA at the World Championship Cross Triathlon in Edmonton, Canada. When not adventuring, she can be found on a sunny patio somewhere, drinking beers with her husband.
