The Kuhl Athena Pullover is my absolute favorite pullover this season because of its elevated style. If it can be described in one word, it would be flattering.

Look and Fit
I love how the oversized cowl neck and the quilted pattern give it a sophisticated look that can be either dressed up or dressed down. I can pull up my hair, pair it with some nice earrings and a skirt, and I’m ready to go to a nice dinner in Denver.
Or, I can wear it with some lined technical pants and hiking boots for a more casual, outdoorsy look that I can wear around my small mountain town.
I had a bit of trepidation trying it on because I’ve had so much bad luck in the past with ill-fitting pullovers that look great online, but awful in real life. Thankfully, this was not the case with the Kuhl Athena Pullover. In fact, it was quite the opposite. It exceeded my expectations!

As soon as I tried it on, I knew I had a winner. The relaxed fit was surprisingly flattering and elongated my torso. Wow.
Typically, when something is categorized as relaxed, it seems kind of boxy. This is not the case with the Kuhl Athena Pullover. Aided by strategically placed seams, the flattering lines are far from the shapeless fit you’d expect to find in a relaxed pullover.
Unlike a traditional tight turtleneck that is both severe looking and constrictive, the cowl neck’s loose, draped fabric and wide folds create a balanced silhouette. The cowl neck provides a dressed up look, keeps my neck warm, and is comfortable to wear (no itching!).
Finally, the classy cowl neck draws attention to the neck and bust and provides a flattering silhouette that looks good on any body shape. There’s definitely a reason that the Kuhl Athena Pullover has 4.8 out of 5 stars in 144 customer reviews- it’s just that fantastic a pullover!

Construction and Features
Constructed from polyester, wool and acrylic, the Kuhl Athena Pullover features an all over quilted pattern that immediately exudes comfort and warmth.
The quilted texture and diamond pattern on the neutral dove background achieves depth and visual interest. Every time I wore it, people remarked how cozy it looked and admired the design.
The pullover’s fabric immediately felt soft against my skin. It can be best described as a brushed soft fabric; kind of like your favorite sweatshirt. Comfy, but not too hot to the point where you’ll overheat. I couldn’t get over how something so comfortable looked so dressed up!
Also, the addition of a kangaroo pocket to stash items or keep hands warm was a nice touch.

The super flattering pullover is a nice departure from the usual sweater knits, fleece, and flannel that are the typical options available during the cold weather season.
Final Thoughts
This season, the cropped look is trending on everything from fleece pullovers to puffy jackets.
Thankfully for me, the Kuhl Athena Pullover does not follow that trend. Its timeless style and tunic-like length provides coverage that is both practical (no exposed skin anywhere) and reassuringly feminine.
The Kuhl Athena Pullover comes in sizes XS to XL and is available in five colors. Because this type of pullover looks good on all ages and body types, you’ll want to own more than one.
