Sweet Protection Fixer Composite 2Vi Mips Helmet
Review by Will Trail
Initial Impressions
The Sweet Protection Fixer Composite 2Vi Mips Helmet is designed for gravity-focused riding, combining full downhill certification with premium safety features and a modern composite shell construction. Built around Sweet Protection’s 2Vi® Helmet Technology Platform, the Fixer is intended for riders who prioritize protection, stability, and confidence on everything from bike park laps to enduro racing and shuttle days.

I tested the Bronco White colorway in a size Large, which was selected using Sweet Protection’s sizing chart. This is the first Sweet Protection helmet I have used. I tend to gravitate toward helmets that include Mips® technology, as it’s a feature I like for the added layer of rotational impact protection. My first impression was that the helmet felt well-built with a high level of fit and finish. Weight felt appropriate for a downhill-certified full-face helmet, while the modern styling and matte finish of the Bronco White colorway immediately stood out. The large eye port provides a wide field of view, and the visor stays completely out of sight while riding.
Protection First
Sweet Protection packs a substantial amount of technology into the Fixer Composite 2Vi® Mips Helmet. The 2Vi® Helmet Technology Platform combines a composite shell, multi-density EPS Impact Shields, and a 2-layer Mips® Safety System designed to help manage both direct and rotational impacts.
Additional safety-focused features include Emergency Removal Cheek Pads, a Titanium Double D Buckle retention system, and an adjustable two-position break-away visor designed to reduce risk in the event of an impact. The helmet is certified to EN1078, CPSC, ASTM F1952, and NTA-8776 standards, giving riders confidence that it is built to handle aggressive riding environments. It also carries Virginia Tech’s coveted 5-Star helmet safety rating, which further reinforces its position as a high-performing gravity-focused helmet in the safety category.

Comfort & Fit
The Fixer provides a snug, confidence-inspiring fit without creating pressure points. It takes slightly more effort to put on and remove than some full-face helmets, but once in place it feels secure and stable. I ultimately switched to the thinner cheek pads included with the helmet, which provided the best fit for my face shape.
The interior feels well executed, and overall comfort remained high throughout testing. Once on the trail, the helmet largely disappears and never becomes something I think about while riding. I know it’s there, but it never becomes distracting or uncomfortable.

One thing I appreciated was how quiet the helmet felt. There were no rattles, squeaks, or unwanted noises, even on rough trails. To test this, I wore another brand’s full face helmet and immediately noticed how much louder it was. The overall impression is one of a refined, well-engineered helmet rather than something that simply meets the minimum requirements for downhill certification.
Ventilation & Integration
The Fixer Composite 2Vi® Mips Helmet features 11 penetration-proof vents designed to balance airflow with protection. As expected from a downhill-oriented helmet, ventilation is not its primary focus, but airflow remains adequate for gravity riding applications.
I tested the helmet during three bike park days in temperatures ranging from the mid-40s to upper-70s °F. Sweat buildup was noticeable during longer rides, though that is fairly typical for a helmet designed around downhill protection and for my general body heat level. If I could change one thing, I would add a bit more ventilation. On longer gondola uplifts, I also found myself occasionally taking the helmet off between runs just to let things air out, grab water, and eat snacks. That routine made the warmer, more protective nature of the helmet easier to manage during longer park sessions.

Goggle integration was excellent throughout testing. I paired the helmet with Sweet Protection Deckard RIG® goggles and experienced no frame rubbing, pressure points, or gap issues. Visibility was excellent, and the goggle strap stayed securely positioned in a standard high mounting location without slipping.
Performance
On the trail, the Fixer delivers exactly what I want from a gravity-oriented full-face helmet. Stability is excellent through rough terrain, and the helmet remains planted without bouncing or shifting around. The Double D Buckle retention system is standard fare, works as intended, and is easy to use.
The best thing I can say about a piece of gear is that I stop thinking about it while using it. That was very much the case here. After a few minutes of riding, the Fixer simply faded into the background and allowed me to focus on the trail ahead.
The helmet felt composed at speed, remained quiet over rough sections, and never required more than occasional minor adjustments. I never noticed the chin bar entering my field of view, and the large eye port helped maintain a wide, unobstructed view of the trail.
Despite its protective construction, the weight was not noticeable during riding. Instead, the helmet felt balanced and predictable, which is ultimately what I want from a downhill-certified full-face helmet.

Durability & Maintenance
After testing, the liner shows no noticeable signs of wear and the exterior has only accumulated minor dirt from trail and bike park use. Cleaning is straightforward with a damp cloth, and the liner dries reasonably quickly after use.
For routine maintenance, I found that allowing the liner to dry fully between rides and occasionally freshening it up with a fabric spray helps keep everything feeling clean and ready for the next ride.
Closing Thoughts
The Sweet Protection Fixer Composite 2Vi® Mips Helmet delivers the protection, stability, and confidence expected from a modern gravity-focused full-face helmet. The combination of the 2Vi® Helmet Technology Platform, excellent goggle integration, quiet ride characteristics, and secure fit make it a strong option for bike park riders, enduro racers, shuttle riders, and anyone looking for a highly protective everyday gravity helmet.
Ventilation could be improved slightly, but that is the tradeoff for the level of protection this helmet provides. Once on the trail, it becomes easy to forget about and simply ride, which is one of the highest compliments I can give any piece of gear.
The Bronco White colorway looks great in person and has grown on me even more with use. The overall build quality also leaves a premium impression throughout. For riders seeking a downhill-certified full-face helmet that prioritizes protection, comfort, and stability, the Fixer Composite 2Vi® Mips Helmet is most definitely “Trail Approved”.
