The Mountain Hardwear Chill Action Hoody is the perfect hoody to get you through shoulder season when your warm weather sun hoody is too thin and a fleece hoody is overkill.

Mountain Hardwear Chill Action Hoody Review

Layered up or on its own, the Chill Action Hoody is the wear-anywhere lounge hoody that you’ll find yourself wearing on grocery runs, casual hikes, brunch, walking the dog, and lazy days around the house. Clearly, the aptly named Chill Action Hoody is made with one thing in mind: chillaxing wherever you go.

There are three reasons why I am particularly interested in the Chill Action Hoody: the fabric, fit, and button detail.

While the Chill Action Hoody may appear to be just another hoody on the clothes hanger, it certainly isn’t. The fabric is principally what distinguishes itself from other hoodies. Constructed from a soft peached jersey fabric, the Chill Action Hoody is surprisingly soft and feels nice against the skin (I’d actually consider renaming it something along the lines of “Super Soft Hoody” because of the softness of the fabric).

In fact, it was reminiscent of my favorite (and sadly discontinued) Mountain Hardwear butter hoodies that I wore in the mid 00s- they were unbelievably soft and I wore them everywhere.

The fabric of the Chill Action Hoody is also surprisingly warm. When I last wore it on a casual hike (crisp fall mountain day with a cool breeze), I got too hot. As the temperature drops, I know I will get a lot more mileage out of it. The fabric makes it softer and warmer than just wearing around an average long sleeved t-shirt or tech shirt.

The second reason I was interested in the Chill Action Hoody is due to its standard fit (not too tight, not too loose). I wanted something that was comfortable, moved with me, and wasn’t a restrictive compression fit.

Finally, I loved the button placket. The detail just added a little bit of style and took it beyond a base layer or simple hoody.

Other features:

  • UPF 30 rating filters UV rays

  • Three-piece crossover hood

  • Low-profile thumbholes

  • MHW patch logo at bottom left hem

Available in three colors (Blurple Heather, Daze Heather, and Black Heather) and five sizes (XS-XL), the Chill Action Hoody provides just enough comfort and warmth to make it the perfect top for  wearing in between seasons.
